Kociewian Cultural Centre – progress of renovation and construction works
The renovation and construction works in the buildings covered by the project to establish the KCC are in progress. Most of the works on the former library, a building from the 1980s which will house the Kociewian Centre for Education and Culture, have already been completed. The structure has been reinforced, damp-proofing and repair of the roof have been carried out, sanitary and electrical installations as well as fire and smoke extraction installations have been modernised. Monitoring system has also been installed. Internal works are in progress – damp-proofing, reconstruction of walls, flooring and wall cladding works have already been carried out.
Work on the renovation of the Gate House from the 15th century (the seat of the Diocesan Tourist Information Centre) is also in progress. Renovation of the roof rafter framing has already been completed, and new installations have been made: plumbing and electrical.
The first works have also begun on the last of the historic buildings covered by the project: the former House of the Sisters from the first half of the 19th century. Demolition work is currently underway in the building which will house the House of the Artist.
